Copying a Mapping

This is an additional feature of mapping elements. You can copy the mapping associated with a destination element and paste it on other destination elements.

Steps to copy the mapping of a destination element

  1. Ensure that the source and destination layout are loaded and all their elements are listed under their respective nodes. Additionally, a source and destination element should be mapped.
  2. Select the destination element and click on more option whose mapping you want to copy and select the Copy Mapping option. This copies the mapping of the selected destination element.

Steps to paste the mapping on a destination element

  1. Ensure that the source and destination layout are loaded and all their elements are listed under their respective nodes. Additionally, the mapping of a destination element should be copied.

  2. Select the destination element and click on more option on which you want to paste the mapping and select the Paste Mapping option.

  3. The Paste Options screen is displayed with a list of Paste options.

The Paste Mapping option is always enabled. The other options are enabled only if they have been defined for the copied element.
  4. Select the checkbox(s) of options you want to paste with the mapping, and click Paste. The mapping with the selected options is pasted on the destination element.

If local variables are pasted for a destination element, these are not overwritten but are added to the existing local variables of that destination element.
You can also copy a mapping instance and paste it onto another instance. This is possible only if the schemas are the same in both the mapping instances.

Import Mapping

If you want to use the same rules from an existing mapping for a new mapping being created, you can achieve this by importing the existing mapping.

To import the mapping, ensure that all the nodes of Source and Destination layout are expanded.

Steps to import an existing mapping to a new mapping

  1.  Ensure that the source and destination layout are loaded and all their elements are listed under their respective nodes.

  2. Click the Open  icon and select Import Mapping.

  3. On Import Mapping screen, select the mapping you want to import and click Import.

  4. This imports the mapping of the selected layout to the new layout.
