This page discusses all these prerequisites in detail and help you setup the required environment and seamlessly deploy Adeptia Connect within your production and the non-production environment.

Adeptia Connect can be installed on the following operating systems:

*Actual RAM and hard disk space required for running Adeptia Connect depend on many factors:

  • Number of services running on a node,
  • The complexity of the services deployed on the node, and
  • CPU requirement for running these services.

The expected data flow and system performance also determine the RAM and hard disk requirement. Therefore, these requirements may vary for the production environment and the user is advised to refer to the recommended configuration.

title(Suggestions for upgrading JRE)

We strongly recommend that you contact Adeptia Support Team in case you need to upgrade the Java Runtime Environment (JRE).

However, here are the steps which will help you correctly upgrade the JRE

  1. Download the JRE that your Operating System supports.
  2. Unzip the file (in case it is a zipped file) and save it on your system.
  3. Open the extracted folder and rename 'jre<version>' folder to 'jre'.
  4. Now download two files 'local_policy.jar' and 'US_export_policy.jar' for the new JRE version you are installing.
  5. Copy these files in the jre\lib\security folder.
  6. Now open C:\Program Files\AdeptiaSuite\AdeptiaSuite-x.x
  7. Rename the existing 'jre' folder (say 'jre_bckup'). We keep the existing jre version as a back up in case the new installation fails.
  8. Copy the new 'jre' folder created in Step 3 at this location.

You can also install Adeptia Connect in a virtual environment.

Hardware Configurations

To get the better performance, it is recommended to use servers with the configuration given below:

Log Database For higher performance, a separate database for logs such as MS SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL can be installed on a separate server.

Depending on the size of the data and performance needed, servers with higher configuration can be used. 

Software Configurations

To get better performance, it is recommended to configure your Adeptia with the parameters given below:

Optimize or Configure Adeptia Services

You can configure Adeptia databases on separate servers to distribute server load. Below are the areas you can configure in Adeptia to manage server load for better performance:

  • Configure your Adeptia Kernal and WebRunner services on a separate server. You can refer below forum link for further details:

    • Optimize your Adeptia JVM to Avoid Memory Issues

    • Adeptia Kernel and WebRunner use different JVMs. You can configure your Kernel and WebRunner JVMs separately in Adeptia launcher.properties file. Refer to the below forum link to configure Java memory settings:

      Restart Adeptia Services if you have made any change.
    • As a best practice, it is recommended to use below settings for JVM:

      Operating System and Java JRE: 64 bit
      Java heap size for Kernel: 60% of the total memory
      Java heap size for WebRunner: 20 % of the total memory

      For Example: 
      For 8GB RAM - Kernel = 4.8GB;
      For 16GB RAM – Kernel = 10GB; WebRunner = 3.2GB
