You can use a JSON file can use an EDI to define the structure of your Source or Destination layout. Before creating an EDI layout, ensure that you have created an EDI Data Dictionary either in the Developer's Studio or in Adeptia Connect through Manage Objects screen.

To create a JSON file an EDI layout:

  1. Select JSON EDI from the Source data format drop-down list. This option will appear if you have selected a file-based application.
  2. Click  to create a JSON an EDI layout from the source data layout.

  3. On the Create Layout window, provide the name of the JSON layouta unique EDI name and description.

  4. Click Next to upload a sample JSON file.

  5. Click Browse to upload a sample JSON file that you want to use for defining the Source or Destination structure.

  6. Click Skip Compliance Check check box to skip compliance check on the file. EDI Compliance means validating the format your Partner specifies and following all of their business rules. 
  7. Select the EDI data dictionary from the Data Dictionary drop-down list. This will list all the data dictionaries created in the Developer's Studio and Adeptia Connect through Manage Objects screen.
  8. Click Select Transaction to select the EDI specification for the selected data dictionary. The list of all EDI specifications or Transaction Set Code used in the selected data dictionary will be populated in the new window.

  9. Select a Transaction Set Code and click Ok. This populates the selected EDI specification under the Segment Definition.

  10. Expand Separator Definition to provide the definition of the EDI file. 

  11. Click Save to save the JSON EDI layout.
