For standard Template Types  (App, File, and EDI), the steps to create a Template are same and fixed. If you have more steps then you need to use the Custom template. 

Using a Custom template, you can define your own process flow and publish it as a configurable Template. You can also dynamically select the steps for the process flow.  

 After creating a Template, you must activate and share it with your Partners. The Partners will use this shared Template to create a Transaction for exchanging data.

Only a Company administrator and an IT User can create a Template. However, we recommended that only an IT User creates a Template.

You can create following two types of Custom Templates:

Inbound Template

Outbound Template

Create an Inbound Template to receive data from the Partner. In this Template, your Partner will define the Source application account and configuration details.

You can use custom template if you want a customised process flow for your complex transactions. In other type of templates you can only use pre-bundled process flow with a one source and one destination. However, custom template gives you the flexibility to:

  • Create a process flow with 
    • Multi source - single destination
    • Multi source - multi destination
    • Single source - multi destination
  • Insert a web services in a process flow 

A highlevel workflow for creating a custom template is as follows:

Choose a Custom Template > Create a Process Flow with dummy activities suiting your requirements > Publish the Process Flow as a Template >Define Activities with Source Trigger and Destination
