Finding exactly what you need inside Adeptia Connect can be difficult sometimes, especially when you try to search for an entity based on more than one criterion.

The Global Search in Adeptia Connect helps you search for entities globally all through the application from a single section. It displays all the applicable entities that have the keyword you use in your search.

This search feature works with Indexing either enabled or disabled in the application. With indexing enabled, the search for the entities occurs at an advanced level and the search result comprises all the available entities with matching keyword – you can further refine a search result based on some parameters. Index-based search also allows you to select a specific type of entity to be searched for by displaying (as you type the search text) a list of entities that may have the keyword you specify. With Indexing disabled in the application, it performs a global search for a specific type of entity at a time based on the keyword you provide.

The recommended search method is to use index-based searching as it renders a better user experience.

The following table lists the supported entities and their fields for index-based search. The search result comprises one or more of these entities depending on their fields having the text that matches the keyword.

Using Index-based Global Search

Index-based global search has got enhanced capabilities over the normal global search. It allows you to search for one or multiple types of entities at a time based on the keyword you use in your search. The following search examples further explain the behavior of this feature:

  • If you search for the entities with a keyword ‘Pun’, it produces the search result containing all the entities, including Networks, Partners, Templates, Transaction, etc if they have a similar keyword in any of their applicable fields.
  • If you search for the entities with the keyword ‘Test Adeptia’, it produces the search result containing all the entities, including Networks, Partners, Templates, Transaction, etc if any of their applicable fields contain the text ‘Test Adeptia’.

Before you perform the search, ensure that Indexing is enabled in Connect. Click  /wiki/spaces/AC33/pages/1611895 to get more details on how to enable Indexing. This search is not case sensitive.
