Web Mapper is a visual data-mapping tool used for mapping elements in advanced data integration projects. This tool allows you to specify source and target layouts and to map data fields from source layout to target layout.

You can use web mapper to map source layout elements to target layout elements. You can map one source layout element to a target layout element directly by drag and drop method. Additionally, web mapper also offers certain mapping functions using which you can map source and target layout elements. Furthermore, the Web Mapper supports multiple source and target layouts. This implies that you can select more than one layout at a time, both at the source and the target end. This facilitates mapping of multiple source and target layout elements.

Understanding Web Mapper

The Web Mapper is easy to use and enables you to specify source and destination layout and to map data fields from source layout to destination layout.

The Web Mapper screen is divided into these sections:


Tool Bar

OpenOpen Mapping, Load Schema, and other functions like import mapping and Load schema.

Save

Saves mapping activity.

AIMap

Open the AIMap activity.

AutosaveAuto save the mapping.

Mapping View

Display the mapping Graph area.

XML View

Display the XML view of the Mapping.

Debugger

Display the Debugger of the mapping.

Notification

Display the Error notification of the mapping.

HelpOpen the To check the document for working with Web Mapper.

Parameters

Opens the Parameters of the mapping activity.

Mapping Expression

Display the mapping expression panel.

Source Panel

The Source Panel is used to display a source schema. All the elements of the source schema are listed in the Source Panel. When multiple source schemas are loaded, then all elements of each schema are listed under their respective source nodes.
  

Destination Panel
The Target Panel is used to display a target schema. All the elements of the target schema are listed in the Target Panel. When multiple target schemas are loaded, then all elements of each schema are listed under their respective target nodes.

Mapping Functions Panel

The Mapping Functions Panel displays all mapping functions that can be used to map source and target schema elements. The Mapping Functions Panel comprises of two tabs: Mapping Expression and Data Viewer.

 

Mapping Expression Area

The Mapping Expression Area is used to map the source and the target elements. You can apply the mapping function between source and target elements in this section. Mapping of the selected target element is displayed in the Mapping Expression Area. This mapping is displayed in the form of Textual Rules (code representation). 


Parameters Panel

Variables

To create new variables for the mapping of source and target elements in the current mapping object.

XSL Template

To create the XSL templates for the mapping of source and target elements in the current mapping object.

Value MapTo create a Value Map.

Custom Methods

Displays a list of all the methods defined for the mapping of source and target elements in the current mapping object.

Key Functions

Displays a list of all the keys defined for the mapping of source and target elements in the current mapping object.

Custom Auto Mapto create the Custom Auto Map for the mapping of source and target elements.

User can add the comment in this section for a destination element to explain the mapping function and rule.
