Compare

You can also compare the activities of the source and target environments to find their differences. This can be done through the Compare option under Environment Promotion. The differences can be viewed in the generated XML file. It contains information of the new and modified activities. Same activities, that is, with no difference at source and destination are not included in this XML file.  

Before you start comparing, ensure that you have run the Migration utility and selected Environment Promotion option to compare the objects. 

Steps to compare objects 

1. Type 2 for Compare on the Environment Promotion and press ENTER.

2. Follow the utility to provide the:
   
   1. Location of the source zip file,
   2. Location of the installed directory,
   3. Group to compare objects from, and 
   4. Location to store the generated XML file.
      
      

   
   
   

3. Once the source and target data are compared, an XML file is generated with the specified name and location. You may access the same to compare the objects at source and target.
    

   The Compare option only compares objects and process flow zip files. If you try to compare other export zip files, such as project, then it will throw an exception.
